This convention will always be my favorite of all!
This year, the attendance went up to a whopping 17k! That's 4,000 more than last year and, unfortunately, it created SO MANY waiting lines everywhere... But I still had a lot of fun!
Although I tell myself that I will change (yeah right -_- ) I finished my cosplay at 1:30AM on Friday (day of the convention). That's 2 hours of sleep more than last year!
So I caught a couple of hours of sleep before driving to Montreal and meet with my friends there. We dressed Steampunk, grabbed our badges and went to watch the FIRST World Cosplay Summit in Canada!
Following that, the lineup for the merchant area was so LONG we decided to skip it and enjoy the Con.
Saturday we got ready as a group of villains from the Sailor Moon manga series. We were very excited as this was our first cosplay group and because SM is celebrating their 25th anniversary, we were expecting a lot of other SM cosplayers!
I realized that not a lot of people has actually seen all 200 episodes nor really read the manga till the end Our group cosplay was not recognized by many people. So we simply went around enjoying the panels and activities of the convention.
The Final Fantasy concert in the morning was excellent, with Nobuo Uematsu actually on stage and playing the keyboard!
The 90's Anime panel was very informative and interesting, explaining how the socio-economics of Japan influenced the animation industry.
Finaly, the masquerade (I never miss it!) was excellent. The level of the participants was very high, but it inspired me to try and participate myself in one :3
Sunday was our shopping day. The merchant area was a little less crowded and I ended up buying a couple of prints, jewelry, plushies and a ceramic ocarina! >_<
We finished our weekend with a dinner at the Cabaret du Roi, a pirate themed restaurant. I honestly do not remember the last time I laughed that much! the entertainment there is well worth the price of the food!
Now I'm taking a break of doing stuff
Next convention: G-Anime and maybe Animara Con (not sure yet)
